Nikol Pashinyan and the European Union Commissioner discussed the implementation of the Trump Route (TRIPP)

During a working visit to Belgium, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a meeting with EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos. The main focus of the conversation was on the prospects for regional development against the backdrop of establishing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the implementation of key infrastructure projects contributing to the economic integration of the South Caucasus.
As reported by BAKU.WS citing Report, the interlocutors highly praised the opportunities that opened up after the signing of the peace agreement between Yerevan and Baku in August 2025 under the auspices of US President Donald Trump. Particular attention was given to the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP) project - a 42-kilometer transit section of the Zangezur corridor passing through Armenian territory. This route, named after the American leader, provides for the creation of a transport hub under US management for 99 years, which will connect mainland Azerbaijan with the exclave of Nakhchivan, as well as integrate the region into global trade chains from Europe to Central Asia, bypassing Russian and Iranian routes.
During the discussion, Pashinyan emphasized the consistent support of the European Union in implementing institutional reforms in Armenia and expressed readiness to implement European standards in all spheres of state policy. In response, Marta Kos confirmed Brussels' commitment to further deepening partnership with Yerevan, including expanding dialogue on economic and humanitarian issues. The parties noted significant progress in negotiations on visa liberalization, noting that this direction could become the next step in strengthening ties. Pashinyan's visit to Brussels is taking place as part of the second international Global Gateway forum, where the Armenian premier will deliver a report on Armenia's role in developing the "Middle Corridor" - an alternative route of the Silk Road.
