Ministry of Internal Affairs conducts operation in Azerbaijan's regions bordering Russia

Comprehensive operational-search and preventive measures codenamed "Border-Shield" are being conducted in Azerbaijan's regions bordering Russia.
As AZERTAJ reports, the operations are being conducted in accordance with the mutual agreement reached between the Ministers of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation.
In connection with the upcoming week-long operations, police posts have been established in appropriate locations in Guba, Gusar, Khachmaz, Balakan, Zagatala, Gakh, Sheki, Oguz and Gabala regions.
The main purpose of the operations is to implement decisions made on border cooperation issues, identify and neutralize members of transnational organized criminal groups and terrorist organizations, conduct comprehensive organizational and practical measures to detect and suppress channels of financial and material resources aimed at transporting weapons, explosives and devices, narcotic substances, as well as to counter other illegal activities.
The comprehensive operational-search and preventive measures will be conducted from February 3 to 10.
