Ilham Aliyev: We already supply natural gas to 16 countries, 10 of which are EU members

Azerbaijan is the only country in the South Caucasus that possesses energy resources and exports them to other countries in the region. Georgia has been importing energy resources from Azerbaijan for many years, and now Armenia too. As for Europe and the European Union (EU), our energy cooperation continues to expand. We already supply natural gas to 16 countries, 10 of which are EU members. Thus, in terms of coverage, geographical coverage of pipeline gas supplies, Azerbaijan ranks first in the world.

As reported by AZERTAJ, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated this on January 20 in an interview with Euronews TV channel in Davos.

The head of state noted that Azerbaijan has resources, a transport system, modern pipelines: "We maintain good relations with many European countries. For them, this is a way to strengthen their energy security. And for us, it's an opportunity to sell our resources in a premium market. Although we sell gas not only to Europe - we recently started exporting gas to Syria as well. But the European market, of course, is the best in terms of prices."
