Ilham Aliyev received credentials of the newly appointed head of the EU Representation in Azerbaijan

On October 16, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the credentials of the newly appointed head of the European Union representation in our country, Marijana Kujundzic.

As reported by BAKU.WS, Marijana Kujundzic presented her credentials to President Ilham Aliyev.

Recalling with satisfaction his meetings with the President of the European Council António Costa and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen in Tirana and Copenhagen, the head of state said that they discussed in detail the prospects for developing cooperation. Emphasizing the recent dynamics in relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union, President Ilham Aliyev mentioned the visits of three EU commissioners to Azerbaijan during the year.

Marijana Kujundzic congratulated on the successes achieved in advancing the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington, witnessed by US President Donald Trump. Noting that Azerbaijan conducts active regional diplomacy, the new head of the European Union representation in our country, Marijana Kujundzic, said that recent visits by President Ilham Aliyev and international summits in which he participated are clear examples of this.

Emphasizing the favorable opportunities for further development of relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union, she touched upon successful cooperation in energy and transport spheres, noting that the European Union actively supports projects to create regional transport communications.

Marijana Kujundzic said that the European Union will continue to provide support to Azerbaijan in the area of demining territories.

The meeting included an exchange of views on the prospects for relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union.
