On May 9, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva participated in the opening of the village of Shukurbayli in the Jabrayil district.

As reported by AZERTAC, the head of state first opened the school building constructed in the village with a capacity of 360 students.

Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Jabrayil, Gubadli and Zangilan districts Vahid Hajiyev and Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons Rovshan Rzayev briefed the head of state and the first lady on the work carried out in the village of Shukurbayli.

It was reported that the village of Shukurbayli is located in the administrative-territorial district of the same name in the Jabrayil district, 18 kilometers southeast of the district center, on flat terrain.

The village was occupied by the armed forces of Armenia in 1993. Before the occupation, it had a functioning school, club, library and hospital, and the population was primarily engaged in viticulture, animal husbandry, grain farming and sericulture. The village was liberated from occupation by the valiant Azerbaijani Army during the Patriotic War in 2020. In 2023, President Ilham Aliyev laid the foundation of the village.

Then, Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev briefed the head of state and the first lady on the conditions created in the school.

It was reported that, as in other new schools commissioned in the territories liberated from occupation, all conditions have been created for teachers and students in this educational institution. The school has the necessary subject classrooms, as well as physics, chemistry and biology laboratories, computer science, technology and basic military training rooms. In addition, a library, assembly hall and sports hall, and a cafeteria have been made available to teachers and students. Football and basketball courts have also been set up on the grounds.

It should be noted that the construction of modern educational institutions is an important component of the large-scale creative work being carried out in the territories liberated from occupation. Educational institutions meeting the highest standards are being equipped with new technologies and the necessary material and technical resources.
