General Prosecutor's Office: Azerbaijani serviceman detained on the territory of Armenia
A criminal case has been opened regarding the disappearance of our serviceman in the direction of the Lachin district.
This information was disseminated by the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan.
It is noted that information appeared on some social media pages about the disappearance of Nasimi Musayev, who was serving compulsory active military service in one of the military units in the direction of the Lachin district of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
"We inform that on September 26, due to the absence of Nasimi Musayev from his place of service and the failure to establish his whereabouts, a search was launched, and the necessary measures were carried out by the forces of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
In addition, in order to investigate the circumstances of the incident, an appropriate inquiry was conducted at the Military Prosecutor's Office, and as a result, reasonable suspicions were identified that N. Musayev had unauthorized left the military unit.
Based on the materials collected during the inquiry, a criminal case was opened by the Investigative Department of the Military Prosecutor's Office under the relevant article of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Currently, the necessary investigative and other procedural actions are continuing in this case.
As a result of the measures taken, it was established that N. Musayev is on the territory of the Republic of Armenia and has been detained by the relevant authorities of that country.
Currently, state structures of the Republic of Azerbaijan are continuing the necessary contacts with the relevant structures of the opposite side in order to clarify the fact of N. Musayev's presence and detention on the territory of Armenia, as well as other circumstances of the incident.
Additional information on the progress and results of the criminal case investigation will be provided to the public in accordance with the requirements of the legislation," the statement of the General Prosecutor's Office reads.
