Erdogan: Turkey and Azerbaijan have strategic importance for Europe's energy security

Energy cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan continues to make a significant contribution to the energy security of the region and Europe.
As Report informs, this was stated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in his address to the participants of the Baku Energy Week.
The Turkish leader's address was read by Turkey's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar.
Erdogan emphasized that relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey continue to develop successfully, including in the energy sector. He noted that the two brotherly countries have achieved significant success in this area, implementing such large-scale projects as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline, and the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP).
"Our cooperation not only benefits Turkey and Azerbaijan but also continues to make a significant contribution to the energy security of the region and Europe," Erdogan emphasized. "Global geopolitical events in recent years have once again proven the strategic importance of the Turkish-Azerbaijani partnership."
The Turkish leader recalled that in March of this year, the Igdir-Nakhchivan gas pipeline was put into operation, becoming the newest example of the long-standing energy cooperation between the two countries. This project strengthened the energy security of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and made Turkey and Azerbaijan even stronger.
Erdogan also noted that in April, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Bulgaria signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the creation of a Green Energy Corridor. "We hope to complete this project, which represents another historic step for the energy security and well-being of our region, in the shortest possible time," the president emphasized.
According to Erdogan, Turkey and Azerbaijan have great potential for new projects in the field of natural gas. He noted Azerbaijan's strategic role in the global energy market, especially in current conditions. "In the upcoming period, we have an important opportunity to develop cooperation in the export of Turkmen gas through Azerbaijan and Turkey in a way that benefits all parties," the Turkish leader stated.
In conclusion, Erdogan wished success to all participants of the Baku Energy Week and expressed confidence that the event would benefit the region.
