Azerbaijan in the Crosshairs of Armenian Terrorism
Politics 55

"The most comprehensive, systematic and purposeful Armenian just revenge should have no alternative, as this is a matter not only of our honor, but also of the security of our generations." These words belong not to some blogger, but to a well-known representative of academic circles in Armenia - Iran scholar Vardan Voskanyan. And if the quoted citation can still be perceived as an abstract slogan, Voskanyan then moves on to explicit threats: he essentially calls for terrorist acts against citizens of Azerbaijan.

As reported by BAKU.WS, this is discussed in the latest issue of the analytical YouTube project Caliber.

"According to Voskanyan, such actions are justified because Azerbaijan allegedly violated internationally recognized rules of warfare during the second Karabakh war. That is, there was a direct call for the killing of Azerbaijanis - under the cover of an imaginary 'moral revenge'.

Let's provide another characteristic detail to the portrait of Vardan Voskanyan to understand the seriousness of his calls for acts of violence against citizens of Azerbaijan: he is a member of the 'Homeland' party, which is headed by the ex-director of the National Security Service of Armenia, Arthur Vanetsyan. And, as is known, intelligence officers, as well as counterintelligence officers, never truly become 'former'.

To say that we are not surprised is to say nothing, because the very history of modern Armenian statehood is closely tied to terrorism. The triangle of Armenia - diaspora - terror became the foundation of the existence of world Armenians. We will not delve into the history of Armenian terrorism of the 19th-20th centuries, when prominent representatives of the governments of the Ottoman Empire and the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, as well as Turkish diplomats abroad, died at the hands of Dashnaks and ASALA militants.

We will only say that with the beginning of Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan in the late 80s of the 20th century, the activities of Armenian terrorist organizations operating under the patronage of Armenian special services and funded, among others, by the wealthy diaspora, took on a systematic character. For mass intimidation of the population, as well as numerous killings, the special services of Armenia during the occupation of Karabakh began to implement terrorist acts against the peaceful Azerbaijani population, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of innocent people.

Thus, one of the first terrorist attacks during the Karabakh conflict was carried out by Armenian special services and terrorists on September 16, 1989, when a passenger bus following the Tbilisi-Baku route was blown up. As a result, 5 people were killed and 25 were injured. And on January 9, 1991, as a result of the shooting of a car traveling from Lachin to Shusha, correspondent of the newspaper "Youth of Azerbaijan" Salatyn Askerova and three Soviet servicemen were killed. Members of the terrorist group Mkrtchyan, Petrosyan, Mangasaryan and Arustamyan were brought to criminal responsibility," the material notes.
