Azerbaijan Celebrates National Salvation Day

Today, the Day of National Salvation is celebrated in Azerbaijan.
As BAKU.WS reminds, in his speech at the Milli Majlis meeting held on June 15, 1993, national leader Heydar Aliyev announced a new strategy for the future development of Azerbaijan's statehood, and this day went down in our country's history as the Day of National Salvation.
On this day, at the people's demand, Heydar Aliyev returned to power for the second time and was elected chairman of the Supreme Council. Thus, the country was saved from the threat of civil war and division. The philosophy of national salvation ensured the existence of Azerbaijan, its independence, which became the greatest achievement in the history of the state.
If gaining independence was the first condition, the second important issue was the preservation and development of sovereignty, which became possible thanks to the will of the national leader. He created the national concept of Azerbaijan's statehood. Despite all obstacles, socio-political stability was restored in the shortest period.
To bring the truth to the world community, on June 20, 1993, Heydar Aliyev held a briefing for local and foreign journalists, and on June 21, he met with diplomats from several countries. The policy in this area brought the republic out of the information blockade and changed the opinion about Azerbaijan in a positive direction.
It was in such a complex political environment that Heydar Aliyev's enormous potential became the guarantor of Azerbaijan's independence. The personality of the national leader, his ability for political management, determination, and charisma put an end to the political crisis, and Azerbaijan's integration into the world community began.
In 1997, members of parliament proposed to declare June 15 as the Day of National Salvation of Azerbaijan, and the Milli Majlis approved this proposal. Since then, Heydar Aliyev's return to power has been celebrated as a national holiday.
Note that by decree of President Ilham Aliyev, 2023 was declared the Year of Heydar Aliyev in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
