Aykhan Hajizade: We await clarifications regarding Maria Zakharova's statement
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan, Aykhan Hajizade, stated that the Azerbaijani side expects clarifications regarding the statement made by the official representative of the Russian MFA, Maria Zakharova.
This was stated by the ministry's spokesperson Aykhan Hajizade.
According to him, Zakharova's remarks at the latest briefing were deemed unacceptable.
"The statement by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Maria Zakharova, who during the latest press briefing, while answering a question regarding Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's remarks about religious figures, attempted to mention the name of Azerbaijan's national leader Heydar Aliyev, which has no relevance to the topic, is unacceptable," Hajizade noted.
He stated that mentioning the name of national leader Heydar Aliyev in such a manner is a display of disrespect toward his legacy and the Azerbaijani people:
"Such statements do not meet the standards expected of an official representative. Diplomacy requires discipline, precision, and responsibility, not inappropriate statements that escalate tensions and undermine trust. We expect clarifications from the Russian side regarding this statement."
