Allahshukur Pashazade met with the Pope
As part of his visit to the Vatican, the chairman of the Muslim Board of the Caucasus, Sheikh ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade met with the head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIV.
As reported by Azertaj, the meeting took place after a general audience held in St. Peter's Square.
Sheikh ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade conveyed to the Pope greetings from Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, emphasized the significance of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation's activities in the Vatican in recent years, and informed about the construction of a second Catholic church in our country.
He also noted that Pope Leo XIV's visit to Azerbaijan would be a great honor. A. Pashazade said that in case of a visit to our country, the Pope would be able to personally witness the high level of inter-religious harmony, state-religious relations, and the atmosphere of multiculturalism in Azerbaijan.
Pope Leo XIV, in turn, expressed interest in visiting our country, saying that he would coordinate this in his work schedule.
