A telephone conversation took place between Ilham Aliyev and Donald Trump

On August 8, a telephone conversation took place between President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the United States of America Donald Trump.

During the telephone conversation, satisfaction was expressed on the occasion of the anniversary of the Washington Summit, and it was emphasized that the Washington Peace Summit, the Joint Declaration signed with the witnessing of US President Donald Trump, and the initialing of the agreement on establishing interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia put an end to the conflict in the region and consolidated peace.

The head of our state expressed gratitude to Donald Trump for holding the Washington Peace Summit and his contribution to the peace agenda.

Donald Trump highly appreciated the role of President Ilham Aliyev in the peace process.

It was noted with satisfaction that over the past year, peace and stability were ensured in the region, and not a single incident capable of undermining peace in the region occurred.

The export of Azerbaijani petroleum products to Armenia, the transportation of transit cargo through the territory of Azerbaijan to Armenia, and the beginning of trade relations between the two countries were noted as positive developments.

During the telephone conversation, the importance of the TRIPP project in terms of regional connectivity was emphasized, and it was reported that work on the transport infrastructure on the territory of Azerbaijan is at its final stage.

Hope was expressed for the earliest possible start of work on the TRIPP project on the territory of Armenia.

The heads of state also discussed issues on the bilateral agenda.

The signing of the strategic partnership document between Azerbaijan and the United States was regarded as a historic event, it was emphasized that Azerbaijani-American ties have reached a qualitatively new high level and have acquired a strategic character, and it was noted that this contributes to ensuring peace and stability in the broader region.

The head of our state thanked the US President for the invitation to G20. This was regarded as a manifestation of goodwill toward our country.

During the telephone conversation, confidence was expressed that the strategic partnership relations between Azerbaijan and the United States will continue to develop successfully.
