The European Union has fined Google almost 3.5 billion dollars
The European Commission (EC) has imposed a fine of 2.95 billion euros (about 3.45 billion dollars - ed.) on the American corporation Google for market abuses in the EU advertising sector.
As TASS reports, this is stated in the EC's announcement.
"The Commission has decided to impose a fine of 2.95 billion euros on Google in connection with the systematic abuse of its dominant position in the European digital market in the sphere of promotion of goods and services," the statement notes.
The investigation against Google has been ongoing since 2023, but the decision on the fine was postponed for a long time due to concerns about deteriorating relations with the USA.
