Contracts with nearly 8,000 teachers terminated in Azerbaijan

No matter how high the quality of the textbooks, the main role is played by the teacher.

As reported by BAKU.WS, this was stated by the Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev at the conference "Strategy for the development of the Azerbaijani language as a state language: current situation and prospects" organized by the parliament.

He noted that teachers should correctly teach educational material to students.

"As part of the certification process, we were forced to terminate contracts with almost eight thousand teachers. Of these, 4,500 - 5,000 people are primary school teachers, and about 1,000 are Azerbaijani language teachers. Teacher competence is a minimum requirement. If the foundation is laid incorrectly, serious problems arise. The lack of research studying the quality of student learning also creates certain difficulties. In Azerbaijan, textbooks are written based on various judgments of individual authors. Therefore, difficulties arise in the process of compiling educational materials. Of course, this emphasizes the importance of the knowledge and skills of the teacher in the future educational process. Our approach is that the discussion should be based on research related to language. Language intuition develops through the use of language and self-improvement through language practice," he said.
