According to SOCAR, the extension of the contract has already been agreed between the parties and is currently in the signing stage.
Company representatives noted that gas supplies from Iran to Nakhchivan continue as usual. From January 1 to August 21, 2025, the volume of transported gas amounted to 188.5 million cubic meters. It is worth recalling that gas supplies to Nakhchivan through Iranian territory began in 2006.
Cooperation in the gas sector between the two countries was officially formalized in 2005, when a natural gas exchange contract was signed. Regarding the Igdir - Nakhchivan gas pipeline, which was opened on March 5, 2025, SOCAR emphasized that gas transportation along this route has not yet begun. The design capacity of this gas pipeline is 2 million cubic meters of gas per day.
