As of January 1, 2026, the total amount of state debt (external and internal) of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AR) is 25 billion 987.5 million manats or 20.1% of the gross domestic product (GDP) amounting to 129 billion 94 million manats for 2025.

As reported by BAKU.WS, this was announced by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

It was noted that as of January 1, 2026, the external state debt, taking into account the fulfilled obligations on the actually used portion within the framework of bonds placed on international financial markets, as well as credit agreements signed with various international financial and credit institutions and foreign banks with which the country cooperates, amounts to 4 billion 813.5 million dollars or 6.3% of GDP.

The level of internal state debt as of January 1, 2026, amounted to 17 billion 804.5 million manats or 13.8% of GDP.

The state budget for 2025 provided for expenses in the amount of 2 billion 399.6 million manats related to servicing state debt and obligations. During 2025, a total of 2 billion 99.5 million manats was repaid from the state budget expenditures for state debt servicing, including 757 million manats for internal state debt (136.8 million manats for principal debt, 620.2 million manats for interest debt), 1 billion 342.5 million manats for external state debt (959.7 million manats for principal debt, 382.8 million manats for interest debt). Overall, savings of 300.1 million manats were generated in state budget expenditures for state debt servicing for 2025.
