The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to launch the largest seismic research program in its history in 2026.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was announced by SOCAR's reservoir development manager Murad Seidov during a panel discussion at the "Caspian Technical Conference-2025 SPE" in Baku.

According to him, the upcoming work is aimed at more accurate mapping of reserves at mature fields. "Under limited budget conditions, we need to properly focus on areas that create the greatest value. The seismic program that we will implement in 2026 will be the largest in SOCAR's history, and its key goal is to accurately determine underground resources," the manager noted.

He added that in addition to seismic surveys, SOCAR, together with international partners, including Baker Hughes, Halliburton, and SLB (formerly Schlumberger), is conducting other types of data collection activities.

"Technological cooperation is a key factor in reducing uncertainty. Only after correctly identifying targets can we proceed with full-scale field recovery," said Murad Seidov.
