Euronews on the Global Baku Forum: It is a platform for addressing pressing global issues
The international news channel Euronews prepared a report dedicated to the Global Baku Forum, which took place on March 12–14.
As BAKU.WS reports with reference to Report, the TV channel called the forum a platform designed to seek solutions to the most pressing global problems.
"We are facing global challenges. And if the challenges are global, the solutions must be global as well. That is precisely why forums like this can become a moment of inspiration for proposing new ideas and concepts that, in my view, leaders around the world can use to make the best decisions," said former President of the European Council Charles Michel.
Euronews emphasizes that every year the Global Baku Forum brings together current and former leaders, presidents, prime ministers, and decision-makers from around the world to discuss challenges and share experiences: "This year, the discussion focused on the future of global governance, rising geopolitical tensions, and the search for new models of international cooperation."
Former Vice President of the European Parliament Silvana Koch-Mehrin noted for her part that in the current geopolitical conditions, Europe is in acute need of energy supplies: "Energy partnership is critically important for Europe's very existence, and the importance of Azerbaijan and this region in this matter cannot be underestimated."
Euronews points out that another focus of the discussions was the future of global institutions and their ability to respond to emerging threats.
Speaking on this topic, President of Timor-Leste José Ramos-Horta noted that global crises, such as the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, do not always directly affect countries like Azerbaijan.
"Ironically, perhaps precisely because Azerbaijan is not a coastal or maritime country, its oil and gas are transported via pipelines and by road. Thus, it is not affected by the closure of Hormuz. <...> At least, against the backdrop of problems in the region, Azerbaijan remains calm," he emphasized.
In turn, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev noted that the Global Baku Forum plays an important role in finding solutions to geostrategic issues.
"I believe this conference plays an important role: here heads of state and government, diplomats, academics, as well as representatives of civil society and the media come together for serious discussion and the search for solutions. I believe their voice will be heard," he said.
The TV channel concludes that forum participants clearly stated that the global community has entered a period of profound transformation, and characterizes the forum as a platform for open debates on the direction of the global world order: "Whether it is diplomacy, cooperation, or political innovation, many are convinced that open dialogue will remain a necessary condition for navigating this increasingly complex world."
