Azerbaijan and Turkey will produce the SİVRİSİNEK UAV
Azerbaijan, jointly with Turkey, will produce an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) called SİVRİSİNEK.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this was announced by Baykar's CEO Haluk Bayraktar at the SAHA 2026 defense, aviation, and space industry exhibition in Istanbul, Report states.
He noted that all drones presented at the exhibition will be manufactured at factories located in Azerbaijan. One of them is the SİVRİSİNEK UAV:
"This drone attracts attention among modern military technologies. It is designed primarily for use against ground targets."
It should be noted that the flight range of this vehicle, depending on the version, is approximately 900–1,000 km. In addition, the system operates on the fire and forget principle, and some models are capable of striking targets at distances ranging from 10 km to more than 80 km.
The UAV's length is approximately 3.8 m, and its wingspan is 3.2 m. The maximum flight duration can exceed 8–9 hours. The vehicle travels at a speed of about 55 knots, or nautical miles (1 nautical mile equals 1.852 km – ed.).
SİVRİSİNEK is launched using a catapult, runs on an internal combustion engine, and features AI-assisted target recognition capability. It is equipped with a GNSS navigation system and electro-optical guidance.
According to experts, UAVs of this type can be used in both reconnaissance and strike operations and are considered a flexible and effective asset in modern combat conditions.
