All types of retirement pensions are being increased in Azerbaijan - DATE
In accordance with current legislation, indexation and increases of pensions in Azerbaijan will continue next year.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Oxu.az, this was stated by deputy Vugar Bayramov during the discussion of the bill "On the budget of the State Social Protection Fund for 2026" at a joint meeting of the Milli Mejlis committees on economic policy, industry and entrepreneurship and on labor and social policy.
According to him, starting from January 2026, there will be an increase in all types of labor pensions.
"This increase will cover approximately 1,100,000 citizens and will be implemented in accordance with the percentage growth of the nominal average monthly wage in 2025. Thus, for the first 9 months of this year, the average monthly nominal wage increased by 9.7% compared to the corresponding period last year and reached 1,093 manats.
According to preliminary expectations, pensions will increase by 9.2% starting next year. The expenses of the Unemployment Insurance Fund for 2026 will amount to 266,400,000 manats, of which 77,000,000 manats, or about 30%, will be directed to organizing self-employment measures. Unemployment insurance payments will amount to 28,000,000 manats, which corresponds to 10.5% of total expenses. As can be seen, a significant part of the fund's resources will be directed to purposes not related to unemployment insurance payments. Given that more funds are being directed to active social programs, changing the name of the fund to 'Employment and Unemployment Insurance Fund' would be more appropriate to the directions of its activities and philosophy," emphasized the parliamentarian.
V. Bayramov noted that raising the need criterion to 300 manats next year will lead to an increase in the amount of social assistance.
"Defining a new need criterion is important in terms of increasing the monthly amount of targeted social assistance and expanding applications. In this context, raising the need criterion will lead to an increase in the amount of assistance received by our citizens under the targeted social assistance program, starting from next year. At the same time, thanks to the increase in the need criterion, more families will be able to apply for targeted social assistance. Currently, 353,300 members of 80,300 low-income families receive targeted state social assistance. This means that the number of families that will benefit from the increase will be quite significant," the deputy emphasized.
