Today is the day of remembrance for the People's Artist Rasim Ojagov

Today marks the 19th anniversary of the death of the outstanding film director, State Prize laureate, People's Artist Rasim Ojagov.
He was born on November 22, 1933, in Sheki. Young Rasim, who was seriously engaged in photography, gets the opportunity to familiarize himself with the work of a film crew that came to his hometown. The world of cinema attracts him so much that the young photographer decides to deeply study and master this art.
After graduating from high school, he leaves for Moscow, where he enrolls in the cinematography faculty of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography. In 1956, he completed his studies, and from 1961 to 1967, he studied at the Azerbaijan State Theater Institute in the directing department.
Having begun his career in 1956 as a cinematographer at the "Azerbaijanfilm" studio, Rasim Ojagov worked here in various positions. He first shot the film "Two from the Same Quarter" as a cinematographer. After that, Rasim Ojagov created outstanding examples of cinematography art in Azerbaijani cinema - "True Friend," "Our Street," "I Will Dance," "Why Are You Silent?," "Return of the Violin."
The first film directed by Rasim Ojagov was "The Avenger from Ganjabasar." His next directorial work was the film "The Sound of the Pipe." Rasim Ojagov is the director of films that constitute unforgettable pages in the chronicle of national cinema. Among them are "Birthday," "Interrogation," "Before the Closed Door," "Park," "Another Life," "Temple of Air," "Tahmina," "Istanbul Story," "Hotel Room."
Rasim Ojagov passed away on July 11, 2006.
