Today is the day of remembrance for the outstanding theater and film actor, People's Artist of Azerbaijan Yashar Nuri.
Y.Nuri was born on September 3, 1951 in Baku, in the family of the famous Azerbaijani artist Mamadsadikh Nuriyev.
During his school years, he was a host of children's and youth programs, participated in drama clubs.
He first appeared on stage at the age of 11, playing the role of Tapdyg in the play "Toy kimindir?" ("Whose Wedding Is This?") at the Theater of Musical Comedy. In 1972, he graduated from the Faculty of Theater and Film Acting at the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (now Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts - ed.).
Since 1974, he was an actor at the Azerbaijan State Academic Drama Theater. People's Artist of Azerbaijan since 1989.
For his contributions to the development of theatrical art in Azerbaijan, he was awarded the "Shohrat" Order (2011) and was a presidential scholarship recipient.
Y.Nuri starred in 50 feature films and more than 100 television plays. Many of the TV plays in which Y.Nuri played the main role entered the Golden Fund of Azerbaijani television.
During his work in theater, Y.Nuri created unforgettable characters. Among them are Mad Salman ("Gathering of Madmen" by J.Mammadguluzade), Meshedi Oruj ("The Dead" by J.Mammadguluzade), Abdulali bek ("Sevil" by J.Jabbarli), Agamusa Nagiyev ("Patron" by A.Amirli), Rahman ("The Cry" by B.Vagabzade) and many others.
He starred in such well-known films as "The Scoundrel," "Road Accident," "Everything Is for the Better," "Verification" and others.
People's Artist of Azerbaijan Y.Nuri died on November 22, 2012 at the age of 61 after a long illness.
The farewell ceremony for the outstanding actor was held on the stage of his home Azerbaijan Drama Theater.
Y.Nuri is buried in the Second Alley of Honor.
