Zelensky announces new round of negotiations with the Russian Federation
Ukraine is discussing with partners the possibility of new negotiations with Russia. Three countries are being considered as locations.
This is reported by BAKU.WS with reference to a briefing by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to the head of state, he held talks with US President Donald Trump and several European leaders.
"We are considering the possibility, I believe this is positive in our conversation, we are in any case considering the possibility of a meeting, once again, a meeting of all teams. We want at a high level America, Ukraine, Russia and representatives of those countries (referring to France, Britain, Italy and Germany - ed.), which were mentioned now, yes, and plus Great Britain," Zelensky said.
According to him, such a meeting could take place in: Turkey, the Vatican, or Switzerland. The main question remains who will be able to organize such a meeting in a way that makes it productive.
He also clarified that the Vatican could become a "very favorable platform" for negotiations.
"Of course, I am not comparing this with Istanbul or, possibly, a platform that our Swiss friends can offer, nevertheless, I really believe that Pope Leo can really help us. And this is a very important message that I heard from him during our bilateral meeting, which turned out to be quite productive," added the head of the Ukrainian state.
President Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine is not choosing an alternative to Turkey.
"We look from the point of view of the result, when the host party preparing the meeting can have and organize the appropriate level of delegation presence," he clarified.
According to him, Ukraine wants a particular venue to be able to offer the highest possible level of representation for negotiations.
"If these are technical teams, then the highest possible level of technical teams. If we are ready for a meeting of leaders, then real leaders who make decisions," V. Zelensky said.
