Trump made a statement regarding the meeting with Putin in Istanbul
US President Donald Trump stated that he does not rule out participating in a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Istanbul. According to him, he is ready to fly to Turkey if it helps bring the conflict closer to an end.
This is reported by Reuters.
"Putin would like me to be present, and it's possible. I don't know if he will be there if I'm not there. We'll see," Trump told journalists on board the presidential plane Air Force One during a flight to Qatar.
The American leader noted that on Thursday, May 15, when negotiations between Russia and Ukraine are scheduled in Istanbul, his schedule is completely full. Nevertheless, Trump emphasized that he is ready to find time for a meeting with Putin if it helps "save lives."
