Trump blamed Iran for the cancellation of the negotiators' meeting in Switzerland
The meeting between US and Iranian negotiators, planned for June 19, did not take place due to Tehran's fault, not Washington's, declared US President Donald Trump.
"It wasn't us who desperately pulled out of the meeting, it was Iran. They lost," he wrote on the social network Truth Social.
At the same time, Trump assured that he was ready to honor the agreement that the US-Iran negotiation process would take 60 days.
"We will determine how these 60 days [of further negotiations] will go. They won't get any money, not even 10 cents," he added.
A meeting between the Iranian and US delegations was expected in Bürgenstock on June 19. Initially, it was assumed that a memorandum on further resolution of disputed issues would be signed there, and that the American delegation would be headed by Vice President JD Vance, while the Iranian one would be led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf. Then the sides announced that they had signed the memorandum online on June 18, and that it would be signed on paper in Switzerland the following day. Then it was reported that the decision was made not to sign the paper, and that on June 19 the delegations would begin substantive negotiations in Switzerland. Then this meeting was canceled.
