The US has begun a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz
The blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) promised to begin at 6:00 PM Baku time, is now in effect. The corresponding order from U.S. President Donald Trump was issued after the failure of negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
The command announced this on its Telegram channel.
"CENTCOM forces will not impede freedom of navigation for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz to and from non-Iranian ports," the statement reads.
It is noted that the blockade is being enforced impartially against vessels of all countries entering or exiting Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports on the Arabian and Oman Gulfs.
