The Pope will visit Turkey

Newly elected Pope Leo XIV announced preparations for a visit to the Turkish city of Iznik on the occasion of the 1700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Turkish media, the pontiff stated this in a conversation with journalists.
The predecessor of Pope Leo XIV, Pope Francis, last year announced his plans to visit Iznik in honor of the council's anniversary, but did not manage to make this trip.
Responding to a journalist's question about these plans, the head of the Catholic Church confirmed that the Vatican is preparing his visit to Turkey on the occasion of the 1700th anniversary of the council.
The First Council of Nicaea was convened in 325 by Roman Emperor Constantine I, which went down in history as one of the most important events for Christianity.
