Russia condemns the detention of a Russian Foreign Ministry employee at Paris airport, calling it unacceptable treatment of diplomats.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to TASS, this was stated by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, during a briefing.

"These are completely unacceptable actions that contradict all obligations of the French Republic under the Vienna Convention. Representatives of our consular service in Paris were not allowed access for a long time. Of course, we condemn such actions by France and consider them impermissible toward our representatives and diplomats," noted the Kremlin spokesman. "Of course, this further aggravates our bilateral relations, which have already been damaged by the French authorities."

According to the official representative of the Russian diplomatic department, Maria Zakharova, on April 6 at Charles de Gaulle Airport, the French border service detained a Russian Foreign Ministry employee who was a member of an official Russian delegation, confiscating her phone and computer without explanation. The Russian Embassy in France sent a consular officer to the airport, but he had to wait for almost seven hours.

In connection with this incident, the Russian embassy sent a note of protest to the French Foreign Ministry, after which the Russian Foreign Ministry employee was allowed to enter the country. In total, she spent about 24 hours in the airport's border zone, Zakharova emphasized.
