Media: USA opposes G7 statement in support of Ukraine

US blocks adoption of joint statement following G7 finance ministers meeting in Canada
As reported by Politico, the United States refused to support a joint statement by participants of the G7 finance ministers meeting held in Canada.
According to sources, the American side opposed the inclusion of wording about "further support" for Ukraine in the document. In addition, the US delegation insists on removing references to the "illegality" of Russia's actions on Ukrainian territory from the text.
The White House notes that it does not consider it appropriate to adopt a statement "just for the sake of a statement." Administration representatives emphasize the importance of reaching consensus within the G7 that would align with President Donald Trump's policy priorities.
