Information about the spread of a new COVID-19 strain has emerged

New contagious COVID-19 strain XFG "stratus" is spreading in Britain. This is reported by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA).
"In sequenced samples, the most common lineages were XFG and its sublineages," the message states.
The publication says that XFG.3 and XFG variants accounted for about 40% of all COVID-19 infection cases at the end of June. In May, the share was approximately 10%.
Specialists emphasized that COVID-19 incidence across the country is currently declining.
The XFG strain is a descendant of the "Omicron" strain. Researchers have warned that "stratus" may be more contagious than previous COVID-19 variants, as the virus modifications help it find a way to bypass immune protection.
