At the Russian airport Sheremetyevo, a Chinese Airbus collided with a Superjet of "Russia"

On the evening of September 24, 2025, an incident occurred at Sheremetyevo Airport involving two passenger aircraft: an Airbus A330 of Hainan Airlines, which had arrived from Beijing, hit the tail section of a Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ-100) of Rossiya Airlines with its wing as the latter was preparing for departure to St. Petersburg. According to preliminary data from Rosaviatsia, the collision occurred on the taxiway during the preparation of flight FV6097, and there was no risk to passengers. There were 84 passengers and 5 crew members on board the SSJ-100, who were evacuated and transferred to a reserve aircraft, which departed for St. Petersburg at 23:56. Rosaviatsia representative Artyom Korenyako confirmed in a Telegram channel: "According to preliminary data, the Airbus A330 made contact with the Superjet 100".

The press service of Sheremetyevo clarified that the incident happened at 20:38 Moscow time: the Chinese airliner did not pass the Russian one while taxiing, damaging the rudder of the SSJ-100. The Airbus A330 has been grounded after a technical inspection, and the passengers of the Chinese flight (about 200 people) have been temporarily placed in the waiting area. No one was injured, but the airport has switched to a high alert mode, with part of the taxiways closed.

Rosaviatsia has formed a commission headed by Deputy Chief Andrey Potemkin to investigate the causes: from human factors to possible equipment malfunctions. This is not the first incident at Sheremetyevo: in August 2025, a bomb threat was reported here, and in July – flight delays due to weather conditions. Kommersant experts note: such incidents highlight the need to modernize ground infrastructure in busy hubs.

Rossiya Airlines apologized to passengers and will compensate for the inconvenience. Hainan Airlines has not commented yet
