Apple refused to launch its AI in the European Union

Apple has refused to launch the new AI version of its Siri voice assistant in European Union countries after the European Commission rejected the company's request for an exemption from local legislation requirements.

As reported by Reuters, this was announced by European Commission spokesperson Thomas Regnier.

According to him, the decision not to bring the service to the European market was made by Apple itself.

The conflict is related to EU rules for the largest technology companies. These rules require that new digital services be able to interact not only with the products of their developers but also with solutions from third-party companies. In the case of Siri AI, this could mean closer integration with applications and devices from other manufacturers.

According to Regnier, Apple was unable to offer a solution that would simultaneously meet interoperability requirements and European standards for security and personal data protection. Instead, the company asked to be granted an exemption from the existing rules but was denied.
