Apple has banned flirting with the AI version of Siri
Software engineering chief Craig Federighi stated during the Mostly Human podcast that the updated Siri AI is being developed primarily as a tool for solving practical tasks, rather than as a digital companion for prolonged conversation.
As reported by gazeta.ru, the video was published on YouTube.
According to Federighi, Apple's approach to AI development differs notably from the strategy of a number of competitors who focus on user engagement and emotional interaction with chatbots. The company believes that Siri's main purpose is to help users obtain information, perform actions, and interact with devices, rather than build relationships or sustain lengthy conversations.
As an example, Federighi noted that Siri AI is not designed to serve as a virtual partner or conversationalist, emphasizing that such scenarios are not among Apple's priorities in developing artificial intelligence.
Apple's leadership once again drew attention to the fact that users' personal data is processed directly on their devices rather than centrally on company servers. The executive stressed that the data used by Siri AI for personalization remains under the device owner's control. This approach, in the company's view, is one of the key factors distinguishing the Apple ecosystem from many other players in the AI market.
