A volcanic eruption occurred in Japan
An eruption of the Sakurajima volcano occurred in the Japanese prefecture of Kagoshima on Kyushu Island.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this was announced by the Japan Meteorological Agency.
According to seismologists, an explosive-type eruption occurred at 00:57 local time. The volcano ejected ash to a height of 4.4 kilometers. No pyroclastic flows were recorded. A level three danger alert remains in effect in the volcano area, prohibiting climbing.
In connection with the current situation, warnings about possible volcanic ash fallout have been issued in various areas of Kagoshima and Miyazaki prefectures. No reports of casualties or destruction have been received.
