An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 was recorded in Kamchatka. This was reported by the regional department of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, according to TASS.

The seismic event occurred in the Pacific Ocean, approximately 101 kilometers northwest of the village of Nikolskoye in the Aleutian municipal district. According to instrument readings, underground tremors were felt in Nikolskoye itself and in the settlement of Ust-Kamchatsk in the Ust-Kamchatsky district, where the intensity of vibrations reached 4 points on the MSK-64 scale.

At the same time, as reported by the Kamchatka branch of the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano began erupting.

"A glow was recorded at the summit of the crater, indicating the beginning of a new eruption. It lasted several minutes," specialists reported.

Klyuchevskaya Sopka is the highest active volcano in Eurasia. It forms an almost perfect cone with a crater approximately 700 meters in diameter. About 80 side craters and cinder cones are located on its slopes. The volcano is situated 30 km from the village of Klyuchi in the Ust-Kamchatsky district, where about 4,500 people live.
