A one-eyed kitten was born in Brazil
A cyclops kitten was born in Brazil.
As BAKU.WS reports with reference to Gazeta.ru, this is according to NYPost.
There were three other kittens in the same litter that were born without such anomalies.
The kitten was only able to live for one day, as the genetic abnormalities were associated with breathing difficulties. Scientists explained that during embryo development, its brain did not divide into two hemispheres.
Not only animals but also humans can be born with cyclopia, and most often those born with this syndrome do not live long due to the inability to breathe normally. In humans, the development of this syndrome can be contributed to by taking certain medications during pregnancy. It is rare - only one in a million births has cyclopia.
The occurrence of this defect in the fetus happens in the early stages of development. Usually, "cyclops" lack a nose, and instead, above the eye, there is a muscular proboscis through which the infant can breathe.
