Scientists anxiously named countries that will soon disappear from the face of the Earth

Some island nations in the Pacific Ocean are under threat of complete disappearance due to the consequences of climate change. The world ocean level continues to steadily rise, threatening to flood the low-lying territories of countries such as Tuvalu, Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, and Nauru.

According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), if the pace of global warming does not decrease, the ocean level may rise by more than a meter by the end of the 21st century. For small island nations, this means flooding of most or all of their territory, which will lead to mass displacement of the population and loss of state sovereignty.

The leaders of these countries are actively speaking out on the international stage, calling on the global community for more decisive actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and provide financial assistance for adaptation to new conditions. Some states have already begun developing plans to relocate citizens to other countries, including Australia and New Zealand.

International experts note that the fate of island nations is an alarming signal for the entire world. The disappearance of entire countries will be not only a humanitarian catastrophe but also a challenge for international law, as there are currently no mechanisms to address issues of loss of statehood due to climate reasons.
