Among young users, the iPhone 4 smartphone, released more than 15 years ago, has unexpectedly become popular again. The device attracted the attention of Gen Z thanks to its camera, which creates a "warm vintage photo" effect, as well as the nostalgic image of the early Apple smartphone era.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to The New York Post, journalists of the publication noted Google Trends data showing that the number of search queries for "buy iPhone 4" increased by 980 percent.

The article notes that many young audience representatives consider the iPhone 4 a legendary device. The smartphone was one of the last Apple gadgets released under the leadership of company founder Steve Jobs. On social media, this trend is described as the return of "a generation disillusioned with large technology corporations" to times when innovation was associated with hope and romance.

However, experts do not recommend using the iPhone 4 or other retro smartphones as a primary device. The device has not received operating system updates for many years, making it significantly more vulnerable to hacking and cyber threats.

"The latest version of iOS that the iPhone 4 supports is iOS 7.1.2, released in 2014," said Lee Elliott, director of the Compare and Recycle tech recycling service. According to him, the smartphone has missed more than ten years of security updates, which makes its use potentially risky.
