iPhone gets a charger that transforms the smartphone into a robot
At CES 2026, Yoona company presented the DeskMate robotic charging station, combining the functions of a desktop charging hub and an AI assistant for iPhone. The device is positioned as a smart alternative to conventional accessories on the desk.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to The Verge, the key feature of DeskMate is that the station is not equipped with its own screen, camera, or microphone and fully utilizes the capabilities of the connected iPhone. The smartphone is responsible for computing and user interaction, while the station itself simultaneously serves as a charging device.
The DeskMate design allows the device to rotate and tilt so that the iPhone screen is always facing the user during interaction. Visually, the station is designed as an "animated" character with animated eyes and supports practical features, including Slack integration.
Additionally, DeskMate is equipped with three USB-C ports, one USB-A port, and a MagSafe wireless charging pad.
The device's market launch is planned through a crowdfunding campaign, which is expected to start in March. Pricing information has not yet been disclosed.
