Apple unifies one characteristic of all iPhone 18 models

Apple plans to increase the amount of RAM in the iPhone 18 lineup by approximately 50% compared to current models. This is reported by MacRumors citing South Korean publication The Bell.

In the current iPhone 17 series, the iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max models are equipped with 12GB of RAM, which is 4GB more than their predecessors. The increase in memory capacity is due to higher data processing requirements for artificial intelligence. Meanwhile, the base iPhone 17 remains the only new generation model with 8GB of RAM.

According to The Bell, Apple intends to standardize the specifications of the iPhone 18 lineup and eliminate the 8GB configurations. The company has already requested Samsung to increase supplies of LPDDR5X chips, which are produced only in 12GB and 16GB configurations. Apple is also in talks with SK Hynix and Micron to expand the volume of mobile DRAM supplies.

Rumors suggest that in fall 2026, Apple will introduce the iPhone Air 2, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and foldable iPhone Fold, while the base iPhone 18 and budget iPhone 18e will only appear in the first half of 2027.
