French tennis player Arthur Rinderknech, ranked 54th in the world rankings, felt unwell during the awards ceremony at the Masters series tournament in Shanghai, according to GoTennis.ru.

Immediately after the final match, in which he lost to his cousin Valentin Vacherot with a score of 6:4, 3:6, 3:6, the athlete began experiencing muscle cramps.

At the moment when the Monegasque tennis player was giving his speech, Rinderknech could not stay on his feet and fell behind the podium. The organizers had to interrupt the ceremony - doctors were promptly called to the court, who gave the athlete a massage and provided him with a chair. Both tennis players could not contain their emotions and broke down in tears.

Despite the defeat, Rinderknech will rise to the top 30 of the world rankings for the first time in his career, taking 28th position. For Vacherot, this victory became his third of the season. The tournament in Shanghai belongs to the Association of Tennis Professionals series (ATP Masters) with a prize fund of 8.5 million dollars.
