On June 21, the UFC tournament was held for the first time in Azerbaijan at the Baku Crystal Hall.

As AZERTAJ reports, 24 athletes participated in the competitions.

They competed in preliminary and main fights across different weight categories.

In the tournament, which featured interesting sporting battles, 12 people emerged victorious.

It should be noted that the main card bouts were held in the lightweight division between Azerbaijani athlete Rafael Fiziev and Chilean Ignacio Bahamondes, and in the light heavyweight division between US representatives Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree.

Rafael Fiziev and Khalil Rountree won these fights.

Another representative of Azerbaijan, Nazim Sadykhov, met with Brazilian Nicolas Motta. In a tense and interesting match, N.Sadykhov defeated his opponent by knockout in the second round.

Our other lightweight athlete Tofig Musayev lost to Kyrgyzstan's Myktybek Orolbay.

The competition also featured Muhammad Usman (Nigeria), Tagir Ulanbekov (Russia), Claudia Sigula (Poland), Daria Zheleznyakova (Russia), Park Chun Young, Sok Hyun Ko (both from South Korea), Muhammad Naimov (Tajikistan), and Curtis Blaydes (USA), who all left the octagon victorious.

It should be noted that organizing such a prestigious tournament as UFC in Baku is another indicator of Azerbaijan's growing authority in the world as a sports power. UFC President Dana White, during his meeting with President Ilham Aliyev on June 20, emphasized the high level of preparation for this tournament and thanked the head of our state for the support provided.

Such organization of the UFC tournament in Baku is not accidental. To date, our country has hosted a large number of prestigious international sports competitions that meet the highest standards and have generated great interest among athletes and spectators.

Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, Arzu Aliyeva and family members also watched the tournament.
