The U-20 World Wrestling Championship continues in Bratislava.

On the sixth day of competition, two representatives of Azerbaijan fought for gold medals, but both lost in the finals.

Gunay Gurbanova (57 kg) and Ruzanna Mammadova (59 kg) finished the tournament as world vice-champions.

In the freestyle wrestling competitions, Jamal Abbasov (61 kg) lost in the consolation bout and was eliminated from contention for the bronze medal.

Muhammad Ismayilov (57 kg), Bashir Verdiyev (65 kg), Eljan Ismailzade (79 kg), and Huseyn Mammadtaghizade (92 kg) also took to the mat. Verdiyev and Ismailzade earned the opportunity to compete in consolation bouts, while Ismayilov and Mammadtaghizade were eliminated after losses in the opening rounds.

Thus, the Azerbaijani national team currently has seven medals to its credit — one gold, three silver, and three bronze.

Aykhan Javadov (60 kg) became world champion. Silver medals were won by Gunay Gurbanova (57 kg), Ruzanna Mammadova (59 kg), and Javidan Nekhmatov (77 kg), while Emin Javadly (55 kg), Tural Ahmadov (63 kg), and Elmin Aliyev (82 kg) became bronze medalists.

The U-20 World Championship will conclude on August 23.
