Nariman Akhundzade left "Qarabag" and will continue his career in the USA - OFFICIAL
Nariman Akhundzade has officially left the football club "Qarabag".
As reported by BAKU.WS, the official statement was released by the press service of the Agdam club, confirming rumors about the player's move overseas.
It is reported that negotiations with the MLS representative (Major League Soccer of the USA and Canada) - the club "Columbus Crew" - have entered the final stage, and a principal agreement has been reached between the parties. The management of the "horsemen", considering the prospects for the player's development in one of the fastest-growing leagues in the world, gave permission to the footballer to discuss the terms of a personal contract with the American side.
It should be noted that the club "Columbus Crew" will sign a contract with Nariman under the U22 Initiative program.
Under the U22 Initiative program, players can be acquired by clubs with a significantly reduced budget burden. In this case, the player's salary and the transfer fee are counted against the club's salary cap at a preferential, lower rate, which makes it easier to attract young footballers to the roster.
Let us recall that Nariman Akhundzade has been representing "Qarabag" since 2021. During this period, playing in the Agdam club's system, he demonstrated impressive performance, scoring 35 goals and providing 17 assists. Since 2023, the forward has been regularly called up to the national team of Azerbaijan, however, he has not yet managed to score a goal while wearing the main team's jersey.
