Gaji Kerimov advanced to the final of the European Wrestling Championship U20

Azerbaijani freestyle wrestler Haji Karimov has advanced to the final of the European Junior Championship for athletes under 20 years old (U20), which is being held in the capital of North Macedonia, Skopje.

In the weight category up to 70 kg, Karimov on his way to the semifinal defeated Bulgarian Vladislav Seizov and Slovak Dominik Zavacki with identical scores of 10:0, and then convincingly overcame Russian Ramazan Abdulkadyrov - 7:0.

In the final, the Azerbaijani athlete will face Baissangur Bitmurzaev from France.

In the weight category up to 57 kg, Muhammad Ismayilov, and in the category up to 65 kg, Bashir Verdiyev lost in the semifinals and will compete for bronze medals. Farkhad Suleymanly (97 kg) also lost in the semifinal and will continue fighting for third place.

Eljan Ismayilzade (79 kg), after his opponent advanced to the final, earned the right to compete in the consolation bout for bronze.
