FIFA is preparing a billion-dollar prize pool for the 2026 World Cup

FIFA plans to allocate a record amount of prize money for the 2026 World Cup - about 1 billion dollars.

According to the Sözcü publication, each team that qualifies for the 2026 World Cup will automatically receive 13 million dollars. Each victory in the group stage will be rewarded with 2 million dollars, and a draw with 1 million.

For comparison: at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, FIFA distributed 440 million dollars in prize money, and the tournament winner - Argentina - earned about 42 million dollars. At the 2026 World Cup, the world champion is preliminarily estimated to receive about 80 million dollars.

FIFA will announce the final distribution of prize money after the group stage draw, scheduled for December 5.

According to preliminary data, the distribution scheme will be as follows:

- participation in the tournament - 13 million dollars;

- victory in the group - 2 million dollars;

- draw - 1 million dollars;

- reaching the round of 16 - 7.5 million dollars;

- reaching the quarter-finals - 13.125 million dollars;

- reaching the semi-finals - 21 million dollars;

- final: runner-up - 30 million dollars;

- world champion - 40 million dollars.

Recall that 48 national teams will participate in the 2026 World Cup. The tournament will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.
