2026 World Cup: Colombia national team advances to the Round of 16

Colombia's national team defeated Ghana 1:0 in the Round of 32 match at the FIFA World Cup.

The match took place in Kansas City (USA).

The goal was scored in the 14th minute by Jhon Arias.

Forward Jhon Córdoba of Russian club Krasnodar was in Colombia's starting lineup. However, he was injured at the very beginning of the match and was substituted. In the 8th minute, Luis Suárez came onto the field to replace him.

The Colombian team became the last participant to qualify for the Round of 16. The South Americans' next opponent will be Switzerland, who defeated Algeria (2:0) in the first round of the playoffs. The match will take place on July 7 in Vancouver (Canada).

The World Cup is being held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico and will conclude on July 19. The reigning champions are Argentina.
