New statement on the increase of social benefits and pensions in Azerbaijan

Expectations in the field of labor and social welfare continue to grow. Social packages implemented in the current year are aimed at improving the standard of living of the population.

Against this background, the results of an important directive signed by the President at the end of 2024 are generating great public interest.

National Assembly Deputy Vugar Bayramov clarified the current situation in this direction, sharing with BAKU.WS details of the expected decisions on increasing social benefits and pensions:

"By the directive of December 23, 2024, signed by Mr. President, the Cabinet of Ministers was instructed to prepare and submit proposals to the head of state on increasing social benefits and pensions within three months.

This period has already expired in the second half of March. The next element of the social package provides for an increase in social benefits and pensions, and overall the social package will cover 3 million of our citizens. An additional 1.6 billion manats will be allocated for this direction.

A separate fiscal assessment is being conducted for each element of the social package, after which decisions are made in this direction. But considering that the directive of December 23 specifically provides for the preparation of proposals for increasing social benefits and pensions, our expectation is that after the completion of the financial assessment, it will be possible to make a decision on increasing social benefits and pensions."
