Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan addressed the citizens

The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) of Azerbaijan has appealed to the population to observe fire safety rules in connection with Yel chershenbesi (Windy Tuesday) - the third of four Tuesdays of the Boz ay month preceding Novruz bayram.

As BAKU.WS reports with reference to the press service of the ministry, today the Azerbaijani people celebrate Yel chershenbesi - a holiday that carries national and spiritual values.

"Unfortunately, despite extensive educational work and repeated appeals from the MES, in some cases during the celebration of Novruz bayram, violations of fire safety rules are still recorded, which ultimately leads to tragic consequences.

Thus, last week, the country's public grieved the news that in the Barda district, N. Gurbanzade (born 2019) died from burns of varying severity received as a result of falling into a festive bonfire.

In this regard, the MES once again urges the population to strictly observe the following fire safety rules:

- the festive bonfire should be lit away from houses, cars, electrical wires, trees and other combustible items.

- children gathered around the bonfire should be supervised by adults.

- caution should be exercised when jumping over the bonfire.

- the bonfire should be monitored until it is completely extinguished.

- candles on festive tables should not be left unattended.

It should also be taken into account that lighting a bonfire in windy weather is considered particularly dangerous.

Remember: the use of pyrotechnics is prohibited!

Don't forget: indifference to the rules is a threat to your life!" - the ministry's statement says.
