In Azerbaijan, a rare syndrome killed a young man

A tragic incident occurred in the Zagatala district, where a young resident of the Yeni Suvaghil village passed away. Ahmed Aliyev (born 1998) was urgently hospitalized on January 26 with a high fever at the Zagatala Central District Hospital. Unfortunately, the patient died in the medical facility several days later. In response to Oxu.az's inquiry, the Medical Territorial Units Management Association (TABIB) reported that Aliyev was admitted to the emergency department on January 25 at 13:15, with an initial diagnosis of pneumonia. During the examination, doctors identified a rare condition in the patient - Guillain-Barré syndrome, characterized by progressive polyneuropathy. The patient's condition rapidly deteriorated. On January 26, at 01:10, the patient was transferred to the intensive care unit, where he was connected to an oxygen machine. Doctors diagnosed progressive tetraparesis and bulbar syndrome. His condition was assessed as critically severe. Despite all efforts of the medical staff and treatment measures taken, on January 30 at 08:10, the patient was pronounced dead.
